Update on Summer Outbound Programmes, 2020/21

Due to the substantial and ongoing impact of COVID-19, the University has taken the decision to suspend the in-person summer outbound programmes. In order to best adapt to the situation and to ensure health and safety of students, Globalink Research Internship will be conducted virtually. IAO will continue to closely coordinate with overseas partner institutions to provide virtual learning opportunities as best as possible. Students are encouraged to stay tuned to IAO’s updates through email.


Suspension of Winter Outbound Programmes, 2020/21

Since the University cannot rule out that COVID-19 will still be lingering and posing a threat to global public health in the coming few months, the University has decided to suspend all winter physical outbound programmes in the academic year of 2020/21, given students’ safety and well-being always remains the top priority. To promote the good practice of continuous learning, students are encouraged to make good use of their semester break and join the winter programmes which can be conducted online.


Suspension of Academic Exchange Programmes in Semester 2, 2020/21

The global public health situation remains unstable, with little sign of improvement in the early part of 2021. The University has decided to cancel all physical outbound and inbound student exchange in Semester 2, 2020/21 as minimising risks to students’ health is the consideration that must take priority.


Suspension of Academic Exchange Programmes in Semester 1, 2020/21

Taking into account the COVID-19 development worldwide, the University has decided to suspend all outbound and inbound academic exchange programmes in Semester 1, 2020/21. One of the primary objectives of exchange programmes is to offer meaningful and fruitful experiences for students. With many countries implementing entry restrictions or instituting mandatory quarantine measures for travellers, there remains a great deal of risk and uncertainty. As COVID-19 continues to be a serious health risk, the University has to safeguard students’ wellbeing during these unusual times.


Suspension of Summer Outbound Programmes, 2019/20

In light of the growing spread of COVID-19 in various countries and as the safety and well-being of students is our utmost priority, the University has decided to suspend all summer outbound programmes.

As some overseas institutions have switched to online summer programmes, please note that students who will be attending to online courses are not eligible for financial assistance, as one of the conditions to receive the IAO financial assistance (e.g. Short-term Abroad Scholarship/Allowance, Reaching Out Award, etc.) amount approved in your Programme Offered email (if applicable), is to complete the programme physically at the host institution in the host country.
