The following colleges at University of Cambridge accept visiting students from the University of Hong Kong under Junior Year Abroad programme. Admitted students will spend one year studying at University of Cambridge as a visiting student with substantial scholarships.

Who Can Apply

Application is open to all full-time non-first, non-final year undergraduate students who:

  • Have already completed at least one year of study at the time of application; preference will be given to students who are currently in their second year of study and will go to Cambridge in the third year
  • Major in disciplines that are offered under the JYA programme
  • Have good academic performance and maintain a high CGPA of 3.7 or above
  • Demonstrate excellent spoken and written English; please refer to Cambridge's English language requirements


Application Procedure 

  1. Complete the online application
  2. Upload the supporting documents: (The forms are in writeable Word format, so only the electronic version is required. Each complete document should be saved in PDF format before uploading to the system.)
  • Application Form - Please give careful thought to your responses to the questions. The admissions committee is interested in hearing from you in your own words, about your goals, interests and perspectives – and in how you express yourself.
  • Academic Record - The academic record should be supported with a transcript.
  • Transcript copy - You should submit a copy of your HKU transcript or a print-out of your grade page from the portal showing your previous academic results, including your latest CGPA at HKU. Nominated students will need to submit an official HKU transcript at a later stage.
  • Resumé - Please include your academic experience, extracurricular interests and any work or volunteer experience.
  • Copy of valid TOEFL/ IELTS report (Cambridge requirement)


Important Notes

  • Only short-listed applicants will be invited to an interview.
  • Short-listed applicants will be instructed to prepare and submit application documents to the University of Cambridge.
