Differences between SAP and SAO

  SAP SAO
Application

To participate in one of the programmes listed under Short-term Abroad Programme (SAP), you would first need to obtain the nomination offer from International Affairs Office (IAO). You would then be considered for nomination to one of the SAP programmes. Nominees will receive instructions from IAO regarding the application procedure and details.

To participate in one of the programmes listed under Short-term Abroad Opportunities (SAO), students are required to apply to the host institution directly. Note that different host institutions have different application procedures and deadlines. Please make sure you follow the application procedure of the targeted institution and complete the application on time. After receiving the admission confirmation, you can login to IAO system and complete the SAO registration.
