At HKU, we are committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment for our visiting students. Our team is available to assist you with everything from applications to navigating the city. Additionally, we offer a diverse array of extracurricular activities and events to help you explore Hong Kong and build new connections.

  • If you are not looking to pursue a full degree programme, you may consider applying as a visiting student to attend courses for one semester or one year of study* within a degree, diploma or other curriculum, or to undertake postgraduate research studies or other prescribed studies as determined by the relevant department head.
  • If your home institution does not have formal exchange agreement with HKU, you may apply to HKU as visiting student.

*Please note that this option is NOT available to Mainland Chinese students, and Chinese students from institutions outside China. According to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, Chinese residents from Mainland China, Macao and Taiwan may apply for entry to take up full-time short-term studies, with the cumulative duration not exceeding 180 days within any 12-month period.
