Established in 1920, Harbin Institute of Technology is a national Key University of China with science and engineering as its core disciplines. It is a member of China’s top nine University Union (C9) and is renowned as “the cradle of engineers”. The University has many firsts, including establishing the first School of Astronautics in China, being the first Chinese university to independently develop and launch small satellites (smallsats and microsats) into the moon’s orbit, the first to achieve satellite ground laser link communications, and the first university to reveal the virulent factor of the HIV virus.
HIT currently has 21 schools and faculties, offering 107 undergraduate, 41 master’s, and 30 doctoral degree programs to over 55,000 students on campus.
