Waseda University – Exchange Programme

Waseda University, based in central Tokyo, is one of Japan’s leading universities, with over 47,000 students across 13 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate schools. Founded in 1882 by former Prime Minister Shigenobu Okuma, Waseda has a distinguished history spanning more than 130 years and a global alumni network of over 660,000, including eight Japanese prime ministers, many business leaders, novelist Haruki Murakami, and figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu.

Guided by Okuma’s principle of “Harmonisation of Eastern and Western Cultures,” Waseda is Japan’s most internationalised university, welcoming over 8,000 international students from more than 100 countries and maintaining over 800 global partnerships. Its core values are independence of scholarship, practical application of knowledge, and the fostering of good citizens—principles it continues to uphold while actively engaging with global trends in education and research.
