National Tsing Hua University – Exchange Programme

National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) is a leading comprehensive research university located in Hsinchu, a beautiful city in North Taiwan that is also known to be the high-tech capital of the island. The glorious history of NTHU can be traced back to the first half of the 20th century. In 1911, NTHU was established as “Tsing Hua Academy” in Beijing, China. It was then re-instated in Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1956 by the original President Yi-Chi Mei (1889-1962).

Over the last sixty years, NTHU has developed into an institute housing 12 colleges with more than 140 degree programs for both local and international students. These programs range from the fields of science, engineering, nuclear power, life science & medicine, electrical engineering and computer science, to the humanities and social sciences, technology management, arts, education, semiconductors and more.

NTHU provides a stimulating and nurturing environment where its 17,000 students and 2,000 students can engage in quality academic pursuits and conduct innovative research. Research and development activities across the university emphasize fundamental discoveries at the forefronts of basic sciences and exploration of breakthrough technologies with a high potential for applications, earning NTHU a reputation as a leading research university.
