Specialty Programmes

In order to join one of the listed Specialty Programmes, students must be formally nominated by HKU International Affairs Office. Read below for programme details and instructions on requesting nomination.

Available Programmes (2025-26)

Stanford University - International Honors Program

The International Honors Programme at Stanford University invites top students from around the world to partake in a transformative educational experience that combines challenging academics with a rich array of extra-curricular programming. Participating students get to experience Stanford’s culture of innovation, academic excellence, and global responsibility, all while developing lifelong connections and friendships with other dedicated scholars.

Important Note
The application procedure for the International Honors Program differs from the general Stanford Summer Session. Students who are nominated to IHP will be sent an application link along with additional instructions.

University of Oxford - Exeter College Summer Programme

Oxford is the oldest University in the English-speaking world, and is renowned for it tutorial system - the personalised, small-group, discussion-based learning which is the basis of all undergraduate teaching at Oxford. ECSP students can choose from a wide range of cross-disciplinary lecture courses taught by leading scholars in their feilds, or can work 1-to-1 with an expert on an Independent Research Tutorial. Eitherway, students are sure to receive an education that lasts a lifetime.

Important Note
Students who are offered nomination will need to prepare and submit the following materials to complete their application:

  • Official HKU transcript (request from Academic Services Office,
  • Academic Reference from someone who has taught you as part of your degree,
  • Writing Sample that has been submitted and graded as part of your degree (preferably with instructor comments),

Requesting Nomination

Register your interest through our nomination request system. You will need to submit:

Students may request nomination to one (1) programme at a time. Space in these programmes is limited and requests are reviewed on a rolling basis. Students are advised to submit early.

Accepting a Nomination Offer

Due to the limited number of spots available in these programmes, students who are offered nomination will need to be a deposit of HK$ 2,000 to confirm their participation:

  1. Follow the Deposit Payment Instructions to pay the HK$ 2,000 deposit.
    • Remember to save proof of payment. Bank drafts or personal cheques are not acceptable.
  2. The deposit is refundable upon:
    • Successful completion of the offered programme
    • Submission of a Post-Programme Report and Evaluation Survey
  3. Read the Letter of Acceptance and return the completed Reply Slip as instructed in the nomination offer email.

Instructions for applying to the host institution will be sent to students who successfully accept a nomination offer.
