About the Programme
Founded in 1348, Charles University was the first university established in Central Europe and one of the oldest universities in the world. CU is renowned as the best-rated higher education institution in the Czech Republic, and is continuously praised for its modern, dynamic, and cosmopolitan approach despite its long history.
CU is committed to the enhancement of its status as the best-performing research institution in the Czech Republic. The University is home to a number of world-class research teams, including the internationally renowned Czech institute of Egyptology. Its staffs have also participated in a range of major international research projects, including the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) programme. In addition to its engagement in world-class research efforts, CU seeks to incorporate the results of its research and development work into its teaching, and to empower students by ensuring their maximum involvement in the University's research work in both Czech and international projects.
There are 17 faculties on the three campuses of CU, offering a range of programs to nearly 50,000 students, of which 9,000 are international students from around the world.
