About the Programme
From its beginnings as the first Australian university to introduce a flexible admissions system, making education more accessible, to the global centre for learning, teaching, research and industry that it is today, Murdoch University has always kept sight of its commitment to free-thinking. Grounded by its principles and guided by its strategic plan, Murdoch remains a place of inclusive education.
With more than 25,000 students and 2,400 staff from 90 different countries, Murdoch is proud to be recognised for the impact that its graduates, research and innovations have made – both in Western Australia and around the world.
Colleges at Murdoch are group together disciplines with similar aims and interests to promote collaboration and encourage innovative, multidisciplinary approaches to research and teaching. The two-College academic model encourages effective use of resources to achieve research, teaching and learning and engagement objectives.
Murdoch is a research-led university, which focuses on multidisciplinary translational research with real-life impact. Engaging with emerging complex problems with interconnected causes - such as climate change, land degradation, food and water security, minority group disadvantage, population growth and ageing, and emerging infectious disease - is an essential part of research at Murdoch. This work crosses institutional, national and international borders, drawing inspiration and innovation from Murdoch's local community and industry-based partnerships, as well as international collaborations.
