Resources and Support

Returning Home

We understand that returning home can bring about mixed feelings, and our aim is to ensure that you have the support and guidance you need to make a smooth transition. Here, you will find useful information on practical matters before you return home and embark on the next chapter of your journey.

After completing your studies at HKU, please take note of the following arrangements:

  • Expiry of HKU Accounts

Your HKU Portal and email account will expire after the semester ends.  Please ensure you have forwarded all necessary emails before this time.

  • Examination Results

You can check your grades on the HKU Portal after the semester ends.

  • Official Transcript

If you need to submit a copy of the official transcript to your home university or would like to keep a copy for yourself, please apply through the Academic Services Office (click 'Transcript' > 'For graduates or students WITHOUT access to HKU Portal'). An administration fee will apply.

  • HKU Student Card

If you have completed your study programme, there is no need to return the HKU Student Card. You can keep it as a souvenir.

  • Outstanding Fees

Ensure that all outstanding fees, such as student residence or library penalties, are settled on time. Failure to do so will make you ineligible to receive an official transcript.

  • Residence Hall Check-out

Make sure to confirm your departure date with your residence hall well in advance. Upon checking out, return your room key and hall card, if applicable, to the hall office. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of your key deposit.
